The house

Guests arrive to a generous, sophisticated living room defined by soaring ceilings — a wooden frame with woven palm-leaf finish that gives the space its authentic tropical character.

The décor balances comfort and elegance with ease. Neutral-toned furniture keeps the atmosphere calm and welcoming; tropical plants and handcrafted details speak to the natural, unhurried spirit of the house.

Wide sliding doors open the living space entirely to the outside, letting daylight and sea breezes move freely through the rooms. From the living room, a privileged view stretches over the pool and the coconut grove — the setting for the kind of moments that linger.

Barefoot at the water's edge

The generous green grounds, woven into the tropical landscape, invite guests to slow down and settle into each moment — the sound of waves, the rustle of palms. Hammocks strung through the garden make the perfect spot to rest in the shade of the coconut trees, read, or simply take in the view.

Maraú, now

Located along the southern coast of Bahia, the Maraú Peninsula is a genuine tropical paradise — known for its unspoiled beaches, crystalline waters, and lush nature. Surrounded by coconut groves, natural pools, and long stretches of white sand, the region draws visitors who seek stillness, exclusivity, and an honest connection with the natural world.

Among the peninsula's most coveted destinations is Barra Grande, a charming waterfront village where rustic Bahian warmth meets sophisticated hospitality, exceptional cuisine, and easy leisure. Late afternoons bring the unforgettable sunset at Ponta do Mutá — turquoise water, shifting light, and a pace that stays with you.

Beyond the paradisiacal beaches, the Maraú Peninsula offers boat excursions, natural pools at Taipu de Fora, ecological trails, marine wildlife, and rare experiences within preserved Atlantic Forest. A perfect destination for those who want days of rest, comfort, and genuine connection with Brazil's most authentic coastline.

The house, in scenes

From above: the house dissolves into green.

Between the sand and the coconut grove, the roof almost disappears. Only the pool gives away where the house begins.

The team

Maria runs everything. She's the one who gets your information before you arrive — who sleeps in which room, who has allergies, who needs a chair at the table. By the time you land, she already knows your name.

The cook arranges the menu two days in advance, by WhatsApp. You can bring your tastes, your dietary restrictions, the memory of a meal from somewhere. She'll answer. When you arrive, lunch is ready.

The caretaker lives on the property — in his own house, separate from the main one. And that makes all the difference.

Five people look after the house. You rarely see them in motion. The work happens in your time off.

§ 09

The last hour before you arrive

You land in Ilhéus. The car takes about an hour and a half to Camamu Bay.

At the marina, the boat is waiting. The engine starts. Twenty-five minutes through the islands — some inhabited, most not. The water changes color several times along the way.

The boat docks at the Barra Grande pier. From the village to the house is just a few minutes — and the coconut grove appears before the roof.

By the time you arrive, they already know your name.
